Mohiuddin Ahmed began his career as a journalist in West Pakistan. He was a lecturer at the Department of Journalism in Punjab University for four years before joining as Editor at Oxford University Press (OUP) in Karachi. After the independence of Bangladesh, he was appointed CEO of OUP in Bangladesh. Later he co-founded the University Press Limited (UPL) in 1974 and has been working as the Publisher and Managing Director of the institution. He has been a member of the International Association of Scholarly Publishers and the Afro-Asian Book Council. He has been instrumental in formulating the National Book Policy of Bangladesh.
